Problem

Polaris sought to develop exclusive content and features for Off-Road Vehicle ride planning through the RiderX Wireless Link.

The key challenges they faced included:

• Limited Connectivity: Riders needed reliable mapping functions in remote areas with little or no cellular service, crucial for outdoor adventures.
• Data Utilization: Polaris needed to effectively gather and leverage data from off-road vehicles in real time, ensuring backward compatibility with older models.
• Scalable Product Strategy: They required a scalable solution that would grow with future developments, as well as a comprehensive go-to-market strategy.

Solution

Our team collaborated with Polaris to develop RiderX, which later evolved into Ride Command, addressing these challenges through innovative solutions:

Here’s what we did:

• Mobile Application Development: We built the Ride Command Mobile App ensuring backward compatibility for all riders, even those using older vehicles. The app allowed seamless trip planning, route tracking, and community sharing.
• Wireless Data Collection: Developed a wireless strategy to gather vehicle data using embedded telemetry devices, providing real-time insights into vehicle performance and rider behavior without the need for constant cellular service.
• Testing & Oversight: Managed the test plan development and oversaw comprehensive quality assurance to ensure the solution functioned reliably in the most remote locations.
• Branding & Launch Strategy: Created the branding strategy and guided the go-to-market launch plan for what would eventually become Ride Command.

Results

• Patent Awarded: Polaris received a patent for a trip mapping system that utilized user-generated data, creating a more immersive and useful ride planning experience.
• Program Expansion: The success of RiderX led to its rebranding and expansion as Ride Command, becoming a core offering for Polaris, widely adopted across the off-road community.
